Carl von Clausewitz, Prussian general and military theorist (Vom Kriege, 3 vol., 1832–1834), was one of the military reformers associated with Scharnhorst and Gneisenau from 1808; from 1812–1815 in Russian service; took an active part in the negotiations of the Convention of Tauroggen (1812).
