This graph from Christian Pfister's Das 1950er Syndrom shows trends for the prices of electricity, petrol and bread, as well as the wage trend between the 1950s and the 1990s in Switzerland. While petrol and electricity became moderately more expensive, wages and the price bread increased considerably; this left more purchasing power for consumer goods.
