This English cartoon from the year 1772 depicts Tsarina Catherine II (1729–1796), Emperor Leopold II (1747–1792) and King Frederick II of Prussia (1712–1786) standing over a map of Poland spread out on a table. Immediately behind them are the French King Louis XV (1710–1774) and the Spanish King Charles III (1716–1788). At the back, the English King George III (1738–1820) is asleep. Across the table, Polish King Stanislaus II (1732–1798) sits with his arms bound and his crown broken. Behind him, Sultan Selim III (1762–1808) stands in chains. The scales above the table carry the inscription "The Ballance of Power". On the lighter side of the scales is the sign "Great Britain".
