The "Chalet Suisse", a building type originally used in the Bern highlands and in the Vaud, spread throughout the whole of Europe as a result of the increasing popularity of the Alps and was viewed as typical Swiss architecture. The photo shows the Grand Chalet in Rossinière, which was built in 1754.
