Sweden's oldest botanical garden was laid out in 1655 by Olof Rudbeck (1630–1702) and, beginning in 1745, cultivated by Carl von Linné (1707–1778) and Carl Hårleman (1700–1753). Today it is looked after by the Museum Gustavium of the University of Uppsala.
