Vitznau-Rigi Railway

The cogwheel railway, built in 1871, leads to Mount Rigi near Lucerne, which has attracted tourists from all over Europe since the 19th century for its stunning views of the surrounding lakes. In 1992, the Vitznau-Rigi Railway was merged with its rival, the Arth-Rigi Railway, and an aerial cableway to form Rigi Bahnen AG. The photograph shows one of the last surviving Rigi steam locomotives running between Grubisbalm and Freibergen.
