This fresco from ca. 1235 shows the archangel Gabriel outside Jesus' tomb after the resurrection. He is pointing to the grave while two women on the right-hand side are looking in on the scene. Painted by the unknown master of Mileševa monastery near Prijepolje, Serbia, the fresco is part of a range of high-quality mosaics at the church. The monastery was founded between 1234 and 1236 and remains an important spiritual centre in Serbia.
