This drawing depicts the Women's Centennial Executive Committee, which campaigned for greater female involvement in the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876, engaged in preparations. As the organizers of the Exhibition intended to represent hardly any women's work at the Exhibition, the Committee successfully raised money for a separate exhibition building for women.
