The Jesuit Church (now the Holy Trinity Parish Church) in Sibiu, Transylvania, was completed in 1733 after six years of construction. Transylvania had been Protestant since 1543, and only after the principality was incorporated into the Habsburg monarchy did a Catholic community emerge from 1688. After the Jesuit order, which had been based in Sibiu since 1689, was abolished in 1773, the church became a Catholic parish church.
