The Kaiserforum in Vienna was intended to connect the Hofburg with various museum buildings. The construction of the Forum began in 1871 under Kaiser Franz Joseph (1830–1916). The buildings for the Art History Museum and the Natural History Museum opened in 1891, while work on the remainder of the Forum continued until it was suspended in 1913. The project remained uncompleted.
