This 1720 engraving by Johann Jakob Kleinschmidt shows the church with its first nave and the outside pulpit on the Kobelberg near Augsburg. At its heart the church is a so-called Loreto chapel built in 1602, a replica of the 'Holy House' of Loreto in Italy. The chapel is probably the oldest Loreto pilgrimage site in southern Germany. It was later expanded into a church (“Kobelkirche”), which is still a popular pilgrimage destination today.
