The Academy of Baccio Bandinelli in Rome, 1531

This copperplate etching depicts a scene from the Belvedere art academy in Rome, run by the Florentine sculptor Baccio Bandinelli (1493–1560). Surrounded by students making sketches, Bandinelli is showing them a statuette of Venus by candlelight.
