Johannes Oecolampadius (1482–1531)

Johannes Oecolampadius was a leading first-generation reformer in the Swiss city of Basel, and his vision of discipline as implemented by the church, both through its leadership and its laity, was influential in one of the major strands of Reformed thought on the relationship between church and state.
