Adamantios Korais (1748–1833)

The Greek writer Adamantios Korais (1748–1833) trained as a merchant in Amsterdam, but then studied before settling as a writer in Paris in 1788. His poems and political writings, inspired by the French Revolution, were important contributions to the development of a national consciousness in Greece.
