The Mystery of Dr Fu-Manchu (1913; US title: The Insidious Dr. Fu Manchu) is the first novel in the Dr. Fu Manchu (originally "Fu-Manchu") series by the British writer Sax Rohmer (pseudonym of Arthur Henry Ward, 1883–1959). Fu Manchu is portrayed as a master criminal, "the greatest genius which the powers of evil have put on the earth for centuries" and "the yellow peril incarnate in one man". Besides Rohmer’s own 13 novels, the character has featured in countless other books, films and comics.
